The Cutty Sark has been badly damaged by fire. The fire apparently broke out around 4.45 am on 21 May 2007. It is too early to say what the future will be for this great ship.
Thankfully, the ship was undergoing restoration work at the time, and about fifty per cent of the ship had been removed,including the iconic figurehead, the masts and rigging,the coach house, and a significant amount of planking, so it could have been a lot worse.
